She attended a Catholic School and then went to Morris High School in the Bronx. During that time her mom used to take her to see movies of Isabel “Coca” Sarli, an Argentinian actress, whom Vanessa credits as a big influence in her life. In 1972 she left her job as a computer programmer and became a waitress, then barmaid on Wall St. and then did Go-Go dancing for a while. Two years later she began to perform in adult films mainly because they paid $150 a day and was way too good to say no.
When the sexual revolution was at its peak and the adult entertainment business was on the verge of becoming a big business, Vanessa began a career that would make her the first Latin pornstar. When Linda Lovelace was already retired and the industry was seeking the next big star, she came in and took the industry by its horns. There hadn’t been an “ethnic” star before her, so she had to play any role she was given to compensate that unfair disadvantage. Vanessa then retired from porn in 1986 for fear of AIDS and in 1987 she was arrested for drug possession, convicted and sentenced to jail, causing her to think how she wanted her life to go. She returned to porn after that and kept her career going until 1999 when she retired for good with over 250 movies to her name. Three years later she was ranked number 8 in The 50 Top Porn Stars of All Time by AVN. She has remained quite active in the adult entertainment industry through her website and making regular appearances at award shows and conventions.
